I am going to take the next few weeks to focus on the book I am writing and enjoy the holidays. I am using much of the content in this blog and polishing it, editing it, reorganizing it, and compiling it for the book which is appropriately called "What I Learned from the Admiral."
I started this website a year ago in the middle of the night in Covid isolation. My original goal has served its purpose of this being a placeholder for the content I had written about or thought about over many years, and my desire to get it published.
I will be back soon as I start my next series of stories and lessons about "What I Learned from the Judge." You can read a precursor to that series in my article that was published in the SC Bar Magazine here.
I had many people reach out to me after I published that article. I have since been asked to give several presentations based on that article. Several months, I was also in the SC Bar recording studio shooting a one hour lecture to be made available via on demand video soon for lawyers needing continuing legal education credit.
As far as the book, I am hoping to wrap up my first draft by the end of January and get it to the publisher for its first high level review. My goal is to publish it by the first part of 2023, if not sooner. I think that is realistic based on the timeline the publisher has provided me and the amount of work that needs to be done to get a professional product in print.
I have learned that it's not nearly as easy or as quick as one would think.
Until then, I hope you enjoy a happy holiday, Merry Christmas, and joyous New year. I'll be at my desk writing and editing and perhaps drinking a glass of eggnog!
Have a great Christmas, Mark!
